Hayashi Sports Clinic is located in the heart of Uptown New Orleans.
Judo (The Flexible Way) was founded by Dr. Jigoro Kano (1860-1938) in 1882. In founding the Kodokan, Dr. Kano synthesized many different forms of Jujitsu, the empty handed fighting art of the Samurai, and developed Judo as we know it today. It is comprised of various throwing, pinning, choking, and arm locking techniques. Judo has evolved into an internationally recognized sport, practiced worldwide, and has been an Olympic event since the 1964 Tokyo Olympics.
However, Judo is more than a sport or system for physical training. The two basic principles are "maximum efficiency" and "mutual welfare and benefit." Judo strives towards harmonious development of mind and body and serves as a cultural training ground for moral and ethical advancement.
The principles of Judo, such as "Maximum Efficiency" and "Mutual Welfare and Benefit", can also be used in our dealings with others in life. The ultimate goal in Judo is to develop oneself to the maximum extent possible, always striving for perfection, so that you can contribute something of value to the world.
Whether your wish to be an elite competitor, learn self defense, or improve your fitness level; we can help you achieve your goals!
